Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic therapeutic treatment based both on the Chinese Meridian System and Zone Therapy. Hands, the feet or ears are stimulated by pressing gently on specific areas (meridians or reflexes). These reflexes correspond to a body part, organ or gland.
Putting gentle pressure on these areas promote better circulation, relieve tension and brings the body into balance and provides preventative care.  Reflexology aids in bringing the body into to a state of healthy balance and homeostasis.​

Acupressure

Based on one the most ancient principles of healing — simply applying light pressure at a specific point on the body will release stress, align energies and improve health in the body. While similar to Reflexology, acupressure focuses on the entire Chinese Meridian system or the whole body. In this clothes-on session, firm pressure is applied directly to "points" on the body, which relieves muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to very effective in treating headaches, backaches, even insomnia and more. No needles.

Hot / Cold Stone

Hot stone massage utilizes heated basalt stones resting on certain key points of the body. Other stones are utilized by the therapist to massage other areas of the body.  The stones provide warmth which is therapeutic and relaxing, especially during bone chilling winter months or if you just like the heat.

Cryotherapy (cold stones), can be a powerful decongestant and benefit to overworked or inflamed tissues.  These benefits make this type of massage excellent for relieving swelling and inflammation resulting from sports injury, scar tissue, or trauma.  The chilled stones have a soothing effect, refreshing and stimulating the mind, and can be used to cool the body on a warm day or during hot flashes.

Cupping

Cupping therapy utilizes plastic cups to create suction on the body surface to disperse and break up stagnation and congestion in the body. These cups are moved over the skin using gliding, shaking, popping and rotating techniques while gently pulling up on the cup. They are also parked for a short time to facilitate joint mobilization or soft tissue release. The suction can reach deep into the soft tissue or can work superficially to pull inflammation and toxins toward the surface so that the skin and lymphatic system can readily eliminate them.

IMPORTANT CUP KISSES: Markings, discoloration, redness - Cupping can leave marks on the skin which indicate that stagnation or toxins have been moved from the deeper tissue layers to the surface. These are therapeutically beneficial and facilitate the healing process. They are not bruises or injuries and will dissipate.

Pre & Post Natal

Pre & Post Natal Massage soothes nerves, relieves pain and pampers you during an intense time of change for your body (and mind and soul). It helps to stimulate soft tissue to reduce edema or swelling of the joints during pregnancy. Pregnancy massage is especially beneficial in the second and third trimesters when the extra weight often strains the low back, sciatic nerve and legs. Proper cushioning and support using pillows and special bolstering techniques are always utilized. Our therapists know how to address specific pregnancy needs and are trained to be aware of sensitive pressure points on the body. Massage therapy can be incorporated into your routine prenatal care. Always consult your health care provider before beginning any new therapeutic practice.

Aromatherapy Massage

Relaxing full body massage using essential oil blend created by the Aromatherapist. Each essential oil has its own specific properties. Through our sense of smell and by being absorbed into the bloodstream via the skin and lungs, it has therapeutic effects on the organs, glands and tissue. All massage sessions are tailored to meet individual needs and therefore clients can enjoy a combination of treatments for head, face, body and feet or experience individual treatments. A preliminary consultation is required to create the appropriate blend for the session. 5ml sample of blend will also be provided.

EOs have been known to help reduce anxiety, ease depression, boost energy levels, speed up healing process, eliminate headaches, boost cognitive performance, induce sleep, strengthen the immune system, reduce pain, improve digestion and increase circulation.

Infant Massage Training

Courses are offered over 4-6 weeks, to give both the parent and baby time to learn and become comfortable with massage. Each week, parents learn strokes for a new part of the body while reviewing strokes from previous classes. So new strokes are learned and previous information is reinforced. We teach a little at a time to ensure that you are confident with every aspect.

The strokes and styles of baby massage are easier to grasp when demonstrated by our experienced instructors. Pressure, rate, rhythm, the length of the massage, respect, bonding, why baby cries, baby’s body language, positioning of the baby, relaxation and parent empowerment are some of the skills and topics that will be discussed.
