The Beauty of Being a MOMO: Embracing Your Misfit, Oddball, Maverick, and Outcast Magic

Hey beautiful soul, in our latest Magical Soulutions Podcast, we dove headfirst into a concept that’s incredibly close to my heart: The Beauty of Being a MOMO.

We talked about those labels: Misfit, Oddball, Maverick, Outcast, and how they often carry a sting, hinting at being “wrong” or “less than.” But here at Magical Soulutions, we’re flipping the script. We’re reframing and embracing these words not as deficits, but as signposts pointing to your unique way of seeing and being in the world.

This isn’t about being different for the sake of it. It’s about remembering that your soul didn’t come here to be a copy. It came to be a masterpiece, a one-of-a-kind creation, in its own glorious, slightly off-kilter way. It came to be luminous.

“What if the very parts of you that never fit in… were never meant to?

What if they’re the soul-markers of your magic — not mistakes, but maps?”

Why Your “Different” is By Divine Design

For so long, many of us have tried to fit in, to smooth out our edges, to dim our inherent light. My own journey was no different. From a young age, I felt that persistent internal duality – an extroverted exterior craving belonging, while an introverted, mystical soul yearned for quiet moments with books, crystals and tarot. It was like doing the hokey-pokey with my true self, always putting a foot in only to pull it back out again.

That yearning for acceptance even led me down paths that weren’t authentically mine, attempting to conform in misguided attempts to find belonging. But those experiences always felt hollow, a betrayal of my inner landscape. It took moments of echoing darkness, including considering suicide at a young age, for me to begin seeing my “different” as something more. That aching loneliness carved out space for understanding, empathy, and a fierce desire to ensure no one else felt that same crushing isolation. It became my superpower. And it’s the same for you.

“What if those differences, those quirks, those parts of yourself you’ve been told to hide or minimize, aren’t defects but rather, by Divine Design?”

Think about the strengths woven into each “MOMO” archetype:

  • Misfits aren’t just the ones who don’t fit in; they’re the innovators, the disruptors, the ones whose fresh perspectives crack open old, stagnant ways of thinking. They ask, “Why not?”
  • Oddballs aren’t just quirky; they’re the visionaries, the artists, seeing vibrant colors and possibilities where others see only black and white. They add wonder to our lives.
  • Mavericks aren’t just rebellious; they’re the courageous trailblazers, forging new paths, inspiring others to step outside the lines, and showing us what’s truly possible.
  • Outcasts aren’t just excluded; they’re often the empaths, the healers, building bridges of connection and compassion born from their deep understanding of exclusion.

Conformity can stifle creativity, limit growth, and keep us trapped. It’s in embracing our differences, in celebrating our unique perspectives, that we fuel evolution, both personally and collectively. It’s the MOMOs who push boundaries, challenge thinking, and ultimately, help create a more beautiful, inclusive, and magical world.

Finding Your MOMO in the Tarot Mirror

To help us reflect on these powerful energies, we looked to the Tarot in the podcast, not as a fortune-telling device, but as a mirror reflecting archetypal energies that live within each of us. These universal patterns offer profound insights for self-reflection.

Archetypes are universal patterns or themes—like the Hero, the Healer, the Rebel—that show up across cultures, stories, and dreams. They speak to something primal and familiar in the human experience.

Think of these archetypes as the wise guides for your inner MOMO:

  • The Fool: The quintessential Misfit, stepping fearlessly into the unknown, guided only by their heart. They remind us that true adventure begins with a leap of faith.
  • The Hanged Man: The ultimate Oddball, offering a radically different perspective. By seeing things upside down, they illuminate hidden truths and challenge us to embrace unconventional wisdom.
  • The Chariot: The unwavering Maverick, charging forward with fierce determination, carving out new roads, and forging their own destiny.
  • The Hermit: The solitary Outcast, finding profound wisdom in solitude and introspection. They are the quiet guides, holding a lantern for those who wander, reminding us that sometimes, the greatest truths are found in stillness.

These archetypes aren’t outside of you; they live within you, waiting for you to recognize and embrace their power.

“Your soul didn’t come here to be a copy, a pale imitation of someone else. It came to be a masterpiece, a one-of-a-kind creation, in its own glorious, slightly off-kilter way.”

Your Soul Invitation: Let Your Light Breathe

So, where do we go from here? How do we integrate this understanding into our lives?

I invite you to sit with these questions this week, letting them gently guide your inner exploration:

  • Where have you felt the urge to dim your own brilliant light, to shrink your radiance, just to blend into the shadows?
  • What unique and vibrant part of yourself have you tucked away, fearing it might be “too much” for the world to handle?
  • What is one quirky, unconventional part of yourself – that beautiful, slightly off-kilter essence – that you’ve learned to hide?

Right now, in this moment, give yourself permission to let it breathe.

“Because here’s the truth, beautiful soul: your soul didn’t come here to be normal. It came to be luminous.”
